DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Raybestos (engineered by Alcon) equipped cars are off to a strong start to the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Not only did Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch score his first Budweiser Shootout victory with Raybestos brakes but Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle also swept the front row starting positions during Daytona 500 Pole Day at Daytona International Speedway.

Starting from the back of the field at the Budweiser Shootout, Kyle Busch narrowly avoided several major wrecks on his way to passing Tony Stewart for the win. The No. 18 team was forced to start at the back of the field for the non-points event following an accident during practice. Busch quickly showed he was a force to be reckoned with as he quickly moved into the top ten. Busch managed to avert disaster during two separate incidents involving contact with other cars. On the last lap Busch found himself pushing Tony Stewart to the lead. Just a few yards from the finish line Busch made a slingshot move and beat Stewart to the line by .013 seconds. The win was the first Budweiser Shootout victory for both Kyle Busch and Toyota.

Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle added to the winning streak for Raybestos equipped cars by claiming both front row starting positions during the Daytona 500 Pole Day. Carl Edwards set the pace for the field with a lap of 46.216 seconds (194.738 mph), just edging out Biffle at 46.371 seconds for the pole. Sunday’s Daytona 500 will mark the first all-Roush Fenway front row.

The Joe Gibbs Racing and Roush Fenway Racing cars are equipped with the Raybestos (engineered by Alcon) Superspeedway Package. Alcon designs, manufactures and provides technical support for Raybestos branded calipers, rotors, hats and hardware for use with Raybestos racing friction in NASCAR competition.
